What is the diffrence between the phone cord Verizon gives you with it’s DSL modem/router and a normal one?

I needed a longer one so i used a normal phone cord. They both have the green and red wires on the tips but the longer non verizion one I’m using now has the green and red plus yellow and black. My internet is the same speed I was just wondering if I should get another longer verizon like phone cord with just green and red on the ends with the tips?

The grey cable they give you is for LINE 1 and LINE 2 on the Phone Jack. It is allow it to switch between the two to get a better DSL Signal with out dropping your connection. When you use a regular phone line it is either fixed to have L1 or L2. Which would cause you to have intermittant sync. Is this a 2Wire router or SpeedStream.
