Do you need two phone sockets with a pair of cordless phones?

I am always upstairs when my cordless phone rings or downstairs when I have left it on the bed. I would like one in my bedroom but do not have a phone socket, do I need two or does one work from the master one?
Thats brilliant, think I will get another one then? Anyone recommend a good make as there are so many to pick from. Would like answer machine and a phone that could store around 50 numbers as mine only stores 20 and its not enough, also the answer phone on mine is rubbish you have to press about 10 buttons to listen to your messages and another 10 to delete them!

If you get DECT phones, they only need one phone socket. The master Base Station plugs into that, and when it rings, all the other phones will ring as well.
