Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. – A Review Of The Legal Services Provider

The NYSE And PrePaid Legal

Probably one of the first things you learned about Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc is that it is listed on the NYSE.

While it is true that a New York Stock Exchange listing has historically been a globally recognized signal of strength and leadership, we know from recent experiences that not all companies listed on the NYSE are strong OR have good leadership!

With NYSE companies like GM, Bank Of America, CitiGroup, GMAC and American International Group or AIG, just to name a few, receiving taxpayer bailout monies, it appears that a NYSE endorsement of a company is no longer what it once was!

Strong Leaders And Financial Strength

But more to the point of this article is not the question as to whether or not Pre-Paid Legal is a strong company with good leadership, to which I would have to say yes on both counts, but is it still a good MLM Business Opportunity for someone looking at Pre-Paid maybe for the first time as a network marketing home-based business?

A less obvious but maybe more relevant inquiry, would maybe be this:

“If I become a PrePaid Legal Rep, can I do it and can I make any money?”

Despite what someone may tell you, Pre-Paid Legal is not for everyone!Having some kind of marketing and sales experience is definitely a plus when it comes to marketing PPL! A sales background is a definite advantage particularly in marketing the PPL group and small business plans! No sales experience? Then building a team on the network marketing side of Pre-Paid Legal is the best way to go. Either way, it can be a challenging business!

While Pre-Paid talks about becoming a household word and one day everyone will own a Pre-Paid Legal plan, the company is actually a long, long way from either one of those much talked about potentialities!

Research shows, according to Yahoo finance, that both PPL sales and recruiting were off slightly at the end of the year, 2008. And PPL’s membership numbers have hovered around the 1.5 to 1.6 million members for the last several years, suggesting that it may take another several years to hit that pivotal “tipping point” where Pre-Paid Legal becomes a household name and its membership becomes the property of literally millions of American households.

While the PrePaid Legal expense plan along with their identity theft program are great products with tremendous value, they’re not sexy or exciting products and therefore they are a tough product for marketers without strong determination and perserverance along with a solid marketing strategy!

I also think it’s a hard sale since most people live their lives having never felt the need to use an attorney, except for the obvious divorce etc. Therefore they fail to see the value in owning a membership with a monthly fee attached that provides them with access to an attorney for a variety of resons!

All this still begs the question as to whether or not PrePaid is still a good business opportunity or has it seen its better days?

I do think highly of Pre-Paid Legal and their products! I also believe they have a strong business opportunity for anyone willing to work hard and stay with it for the long haul!

It’s no secret that there are a number of great MLM companies out there offering a business opportunity that is not only easier and more fun to do than Pre-Paid Legal but also offer a greater income potential as well!
